Anonymous Targets DOJ, FBI, RIAA, And MPAA Websites: Reuters

On Jan. 19th, 2012, Anthony De Rosa reported for Reuters that the hacker group Anonymous has claimed responsibility for a DDOS attack that took down the DOJ, FBI, MPAA, and RIAA websites earlier tonight.  The DDOS attack was in response to the file sharing website Megaupload.com being taken offline.

DOJ tweeted the following:  "The DOJ web server hosting justice.gov is experiencing a significant increase in activity, resulting in a degradation in service.  The department is working to ensure the website is available while we investigate the origins of this activity which is being treated as a malicious act until we can fully identify the root cause of the disruption."
