On 11/9, Reuter’s Andrew Longstreth offered analysis on Bradley Manning’s plea offer. Manning is on trial for leaking classified documents; it’s widely assumed that he is the one responsible for giving Wikileaks all of the classified documents that they in turn leaked. According to Longstreth, the reported plea offer came from Manning’s camp, not the prosecutors, and is intended to “win sympathy from the judge and to shift the focus of the trial to charges that are more difficult to prove.”
