Jennifer Martinez wrote for The Hill and gave us an update on CISPA. According to Martinez, Reps. Rogers & Ruppersberger are trying to get ahead of a possible White House veto threat by proposing changes to CISPA in order to address privacy concerns. The bill moves into markup this week.
Remember that CISPA already passed the House last April, but stalled before ever reaching the Senate. Much of that was attributed to Pres. Obama’s veto threat. Martinez explained that “[t]he White House is . . . seeking to include a change to the bill so companies would be required to minimize the sharing of information that would identify individuals when they pass cyber threat data to the government.”
