Nextgov’s Dawn Lim reports on a new Pentagon directive calling for new safeguards in the supply chain. Notably, the guidance calls for new software/hardware, a push for technology “that is free from exploitable vulnerabilities and malicious intent,” and an effort to develop best practices.
Something I did not know, courtesy of the Nextgov article: DLA has been “mandating that suppliers of electronic microcircuits mark their items with deoxyribonucleic acid markings . . . [to] allow electrical components in a device to be traced back to its supplier.” That’s pretty cool.
