Cybersecurity research hub headed to Rome Labs: YNN

A bit of CNY news!

According to YNN, NY Governor Andrew Cuomo “signed off on legislation paving the way for a Rome-based cyber security research hub, which would be used on both the state and federal levels.”

Rome Labs is what’s left over from the old Griffiss AFB.

Very exciting news.  I remember that Rome Labs used to run ACE, or the Advanced Course in Engineering for AFROTC Cadets:

The Advanced Course in Engineering (aka “Cyber Boot Camp”) develops the next-generation of cyber officers through education, problem solving, military internship, and physical conditioning (to include weekly 8-mile runs). ACE graduates are filling key positions in the Air Force and DOD. Eligible cadets must be majoring in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or Physics and have a 3.0 CGPA. This 10-week program is offered in Rome, New York.

I don’t know if they still run it (or other PDTs) in light of Mama Blue’s budget problems. . .
